Jaxe & Jill’s – A local West Virginia date night must

Rob and I had our first date night since Wright was born. He’s days away from turning two. Don’t feel bad for us. We like running as a pack and are perfectly ok with bringing all of our living creatures with us everywhere we go; Grady, Pearl, Wright… we’re a crew! Between wintertime cabin fever, a sudden reckoning with the Valentine’s holiday spirit, and knowing Rob would love Jaxe & Jill’s, I made reservations to throw some axes.

Bar sign at entrance. Beer as cold as your ex's heart.

I went to Jaxe & Jill’s for the first time back in October for my boss’s birthday party and fell in love! The music, the atmosphere, the axe throwing are all 😘 chef’s kiss! 😘 I came home telling Rob how awesome it was. I knew I had to get him in there.

Valentine’s Day at Jaxe & Jill’s did not disappoint. A fresh rose was given to me as soon as I sat at the bar, and it warmed my cold dead heart. While we waited to get our lane we ordered an appetizer and drinks. Ten out of ten recommend the pretzels and beer cheese! As far as covid is concerned they have taken precautions to make sure every group was spread apart with reserved tables. We got our axe throwing 101 lesson, and the games began!

Socially distanced seating. A table in front of axe throwing lanes with pretzels, beer cheese, bud light, and wine.

I can not fully describe how fun axe throwing is. I’m not even good at it, but I love it! When I bowl I couldn’t give a shit less if I am or ever will be a good bowler. When I throw axes though, a fire lights in my soul. Something about it makes your inner badass come alive! Rob of course was a pro from the first throw.

While we were throwing we ordered our food. I got the white pizza (no tomatoes and add pepperoni thanks to the suggestion of our server) and Rob got the pepperoni pizza. They were gooooooooood, oh my god, I want another one right now.

After our hour of axe throwing was up we slipped to a back table to finish our pizzas and drinks. Rob was crowned the axe throwing champion with an arm tat. We we’re having so much fun throwing we didn’t even keep score. With all the bull’s eyes Rob hit though it was obvious who the winner of our group was.

The staff was so friendly and attentive, the food was so good, and the music was so bangin’, we made reservations to go again next week. Rob was texting his buddies about it. I couldn’t tell him no even if I wanted to. We leave the house one time in two years and can’t even make it out the door without booking a lane the next weekend. 🤷‍♀️

I’ve included a picture of the menu and a few more little odds and ends that I loved. The menu prices and lane rates are not bad at all. As someone who typically does not prioritize nights out in our budget, this was worth it! It didn’t hurt my feelings at all to see Rob swipe that card at the end of the night. For some of my friend’s going to Hurricane may seem a little out of the way for a date night. It’s not that far out of the way and you will not regret the teeny tiny extra amount of time it takes to get there.

Here’s the link to Jaxe & Jill’s website if you want to make reservations of your own. I would. I did even. We’ll be there next Saturday at 4:00 if anyone wants to come say hi.

Can home dwellers even date night without an Aldi run?

Our date night ended in true Mountain Mama fashion at my favorite place in the whole world, Aldi. An ice storm is coming! I had stock up. Per usual we got an absurd amount of food for very little cash money. Keep an eye out for more cheap, easy, Aldi recipes!

Happy Valentine’s Day y’all,

Mountain Mama 💙💛🤍
