I want to start by saying I’m embarrassed to share this as a “recipe”. We are not breaking ground here. It’s just cheap and easy!
Ingredients
- 1 family bag chicken drumsticks ($3.45)
- 2 boxes BBQ chicken coating ($2.70)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup mayo
Instructions
- Fill either two ziplock bags or included bags with 2 packets of chicken coating. Two come in one box.
- Whisk milk and mayo in large bowl. I saw an Amish lady use this combo to coat her chicken, and if it’s good enough for the Amish it’s good enough for me.
- Roll chicken in bowl. Make sure each drumstick is completely covered.
- Add 1/2 bag of drumsticks to each bag of coating and shake.
- Air fry at 375 for 20 minutes. Turn drumsticks halfway through.
This is a TON of drumsticks
I only suggest making this many at a time for a large family OR if you’re ok with eating the same meal a few days in a row. If either of those aren’t your jam, half the recipe.
I do feel with most air fryers you will have to do 2-4 20 minute cycles to cook half or all of the bag. I personally feel like they are better from the air fryer as opposed to the oven so this does not bother me.
To reheat any leftovers I pop the drum sticks back in the air fryer at 375 for 4-5 minutes. It’s extra crispy that way but better than using the microwave in my opinion.
Enjoy!
I mix up the sides with my leftovers. It’s easy and cheap to use canned or boxed items to switch up the meal. The meal you see above can feed a family of four for $6.50 🎉!
I used 1/2 bag chicken, 1 box of coating, 2 cans of green beans, 2 cans of new potatoes, and a bag of rolls on sale.
Switch up your sides for the second 1/2 of the bag for approximately the same amount. That comes in at about $1.75 meal and you’ll likely have leftovers!
